JOE FUSCO

September 21, 1941 ~ January 10, 2009

Below will be posted some comments by American Bandstand Regulars who knew and loved Joe as well as some comments by fans who visit this website...

  • American Bandstand Regular CAROLE SCALDEFERRI-SPADA: "Joe Fusco was one of my favorite dance partners on American Bandstand, our friendship continued long after the show ended. Everyone in my family also knew and loved Joe. Joe had many talents, whenever he was around there was a special feeling in the air, I always felt like the red lights were about to come on, and we would be on TV again. Whether we were in person or on the phone, Joe always made you feel good! He always made you feel like he was right there with you, going through the good times and the bad. Joe was compassionate and loving. His conversations were interesting, positive and he had a great laugh! He loved life, his family, friends, his dogs. His home was often the gathering place for many regulars to meet for dinners, meetings, parties, listening to music, etc. We will all miss him much!

Joe Fusco was an integral part of American Bandstand, and will always be remembered for his part in those Oldies but Goodie Days!

God's Peace Be with you my friend! My memories of you and of all the times we got together for reunions, movies, interviews, books, magazines, etc. etc. will never be forgotten. I thank God for our friendship and know that we will see you again in Glory!

    Love
    your American Bandstand Buddie,
    Carole"

  • KEN KOSTYRA (fan of Bandstand who also visited and danced on the show during a trip there in the early 1960s:

"I hope you will enjoy my tribute to Joe Fusco....

We watched you dance across the TV screen,
With you we shared our American Dream.
Our dreams were simple..we wanted to be,
    On American Bandstand..and on TV.

Now the dance has ended for you it seems,
But not the memories..and not the dreams.
For we all will remember..until the end..
How much joy you gave us..my friend.

So keep on dancing in Heaven above,
We send you love, on the wings of a dove.
Say hello to the ones that came before you.
    And tell them we send..
A message of love, where the dance will never end."

    Ken Kostyra

  • American Bandstand Regular JANET HAMILL MEADOWS: "Joe was a very good person and a great dancer. One of the things I remember most is that he was always there with advice and a shoulder to cry on when someone needed it. Joe had a great sense of humor and a caring soul. There will definitely be an empty spot in the hearts of his friends and family and will be missed by all of us."

  • American Bandstand Regular FRANK LEVINS: "In all the years that I have known Joe, we never had cross words for each other. He was truly a nice guy, Joe was the person who kept the Bandstand reunions together, without him I probably would of lost touch with all of the regulars. If someone passed away, Joe would make the calls to everyone and make sure that everyone was made aware of a one of the regular’s passing. He was also very nice to Elisabeth, whenever he would see her, he would give her a big hug and kiss. I will really miss him very much."
