PEGGY LEONARD

Peggy Leonard was born September 18, 1942--the only child of Jimmy & Marge Leonard. Peggy danced on American Bandstand in the late 1950s. She was petite (being 5 feet tall) and was a real ball of energy on the show. Pat Molittieri wrote very nicely about Peggy, calling her a best friend. Peggy attended John Bartram High and after graduation became a secretary.

There was a rumor that Peggy Leonard had married a dancer on the AB show; however, Peggy Leonard never married a dancer on the show. I have it on pretty good authority from two Regulars that Peggy never did marry.

We understand that Peggy passed away in January 2004. I believe it was 1/15/04, but I cannot verify yet the exact date.

This picture of Peggy Leonard with frequent dance partner Frankie Lobis was taken at a New Year's Eve party at Betty Romantini's house, I think 1959. Steve Brandt did a pictorial article on that party in 16 MAGAZINE.

Here Peggy Leonard dances with Bob Levins in the 1959 Jitterbug Annual Dance Contest. They did not win, but no one was a loser who was able to dance in those contests.

COMMEMORATIVE WORDS BY FANS:
"She was a great dancer, and seemed like alot of fun. She died way too young." - Gina (poster at our Message Boards & friend of the site).
