William John Cook (known as Billy Cook to all his fans) was born on August 25, 1942 in Philly. I had been given 3 different dates of death and since it is quite uncertain at this point as to the accuracy of any of them, I am going to say that to the best of my knowledge I have heard Billy died in the early 1990s.THIS CORRECTION IS BEING MADE JULY 6, 2007. I HAD A DATE OF 1993 BUT THAT IS QUESTIONABLE.
Billy was one of the earlier Regulars, being on the show in the late 1950s...and he was one of the tall guys on the show, being 6 feet. He was a blond with blue eyes and he was one of the really handsome young men on the show, as well as one of the most popular...and oh could he dance. I used to love to watch him dance with Pat Molittieri.
Billy graduated from Bishop Neuman High and after leaving American Bandstand he gave a try at a singing career. Eleanor Ligman informed me that he had a record on Lawn Label titled "Msytery Girl." Billy also worked for a while in his dad's business.
Unless I hear from a family member in the future, I am going to put that a date may not be correct and we will do our best to make corrections when we know.
