It was great to see the Daytime Emmy Awards last evening and catch the tasteful tribute to Dick Clark and American Bandstand. It was particularly touching at the close of the tribute when Dick Clark teared up. It was wonderful to see him receive the recognition he deserved because his was the only televised dance show that ever captured all of us and stayed around so long. I was very happy for him and Kari.

Marsha, I started crying when I saw Dick get so emotional. His loving wife Kari...always there.. how beautiful. Chubby Checker brought the house down and I thought it was great. It was well deserved and I am so glad they did it while he is still here. Your jitterbug buddy just got back from South Carolina where we had an "American Bandstand" night for the 2nd year in a row. I think they want to make this an annual event. OK..Fine with me. I will send you some shaots of the evening. The crowd just loved the evening..and so did I. Justine Carrelli

Marsha, Richard Di Rocco and his wife, Lois, are responsible for putting this American Bandstand Night together. Richard was on the show for a while and stared getting fan mail. Dick then interviewed him and asked him what school he went to and when he replied that he had gratuated...school was out...he had to leave the show. Too bad, that us kids did not know all the rules...we would have played the game differentley. He mostly danced with Rosalie Beltrante after Nino Bambino went into the Military. His love for the show is stronger than most and he has put forth this effort for the people in his community to have a chance to relive what it was like on a typical day on Bandstand. We had roll call..rate a record..the stroll..and dance contests competition. Wish you were there. I will send some pictures. Justine.

Hi Justine...I think the event you attended sounds like so much fun--a recreation of the daily Bandstand show...now that's what it should all be about, as we can all relate to the roll call and the rate a record and the dances. Tell Richard Di Rocco and his wife that they are doing a neat thing Maybe one year I'll be able to go...that would be a blast.
I think we all began to cry when Dick Clark did. It was such an emotional moment to feel the love that was shown for him. Seeing Kari be the supportive woman she has been and continues to be was truly beautiful. He really did find the right woman for his life.

Dick touched my heart. I had a crush on him during the AB years. and it was so sad to see him crying. I cried for him. My health has also been bad, so I know how easy it is to break down in tears.
I will really be looking forward to seeing Justine's pictures of the AB night she attended. She is such a sweet lady.
