Vintage 1960s Very Fun Mod Style Beaded & Rhinestone Cloche Hat with I. Magnin label
This adorably fun hat will catch anyone's eye; it definitely caught mine. The rainbow pattern and colors of the fabric are very special and atop this fabric are many beads and rhinestones. Inside the hat is the I. Magnin label. I. Magnin was a very upscale and grand department store chain and in the 1960s I lived within walking distance of the Wilshire Boulevard I. Magnin store. They have been out of business for a number of years. You could always count on finding something unique and beautiful at I. Magnin's--but expensive. In my case, I was a working girl and had to save up when I wanted to buy something from them. This hat reminds me of the mod clothing that was around in the sixties. The fashions were funky and fun and people definitely noticed. In my mind's eye, I can just see Twiggy sporting around in a hat like this. The satin like lining is very clean and lovely. The hat is a little small for my model's head. The inside circumference of the hat measures 21 inches. I find no missing beads or rhinestones, so all seems intact and just lovely to look at. I have never seen another hat like this one. I would love to know who designed it. The CONDITION is very good to excellent. The fabric is clean, smoke-free and odor-free.
