This is one of my favorite bracelets from my personal collection. About the only piece of jewelry I consistently wear is a bracelet. I love them but am needing to thin down my collection of almost everything, so even some of my bracelets will be offered here. I considered it quite a find when I obtained this bracelet at a vintage shop some years ago. It is an unsigned piece and I cannot date it exactly but have heard mentioned decades all the way from 1920s through the 1950s. I would judge this to be 1930s from the style, the interesting old push/slide tube pin that closes one of the two brass hinges (see picture), and the art deco look of it. My husband said he saw this type of hinge mentioned on an Antique Road Shows program, but I missed that. He wishes he could recall what the clasp mechanism was actually called. If anyone knows, I'd love more information. The braclet consists of 5 inner bands of brass and attached to these bands on the outside are inlaid pieces of colorful mother of pearl that are violet and the other pieces look like a blusih/grayish/aqua...sort of a blend of those colors and very hard to describe but very pretty. The way this hinge bracelet closes it reminds me of some of the slave bracelets that my mother-in-law gave me. My wrist measures about 6 and 3/8 inches and this bracelet fits my wrist with room to spare. The outer circumference is 8 1/4 inches. When measured closed and across, the diameter is 2 1/2 inches. The width is 3/4 to one inch--closer to 3/4. CONDITION: For its many years, I find this to be in very good condition. It has obviously been loved and worn so no one should expect new in an item like this unless I specifically grade it that way. I am not a jewelry expert--just know what I like and what I buy for me. I loved this one and therefore have priced it accordingly, as I would reluctantly part with it. It's neat even just to display it, but I have worn it and enjoyed it each time.
