This long flowing exotic gown was designed by a famous movie costume designer who designed from the 1940s on. He passed away in 1997. This gown may be circa the 60s or 70s; I cannot date it for sure but it clearly has shades of a modified caftan look which was very popular in the late 60s and early 70s--both in evening and day wear. You will find many such designs in the French ELEGANCE magazines of that time period.
The print is an exotic mixed paisley with silver sparkly threads throughout the pattern. You just can't realize the beauty of the fabric from the pictures here, as the sparkle does not show in the pictures well. The fabric is devine. I don't know what type it is, but it has the appearance of a rayon silk and it is clearly high quality and label says to "professionally dry clean".
The neckline and sleeve ends have a marvelous 1 1/4 inch trim of black special edging centered by a strip of silver sequins. The sleeves flare and flow out like angel sleeves.
The long zipper down back allows for easy entry. The gown measures 54 inches in length. The fabric is smoke-free and odor-free and is delightful art on fabric. This gown is especially nice for hosting dinner parties. The silver necklace shown with gown does not come with the gown.
The colors in this rich pattern are wine, black, sand, shell, and silver.
This will fit todays sizes: 8, 10, and 12. Bust measures 36 and the waist and hips are variable, since the gown flares out.
