TIDBITS FROM THE MAGAZINES This is funny because it shows how badly the magazines got names of Regulars spelled. Here's a quote from "Pat's Party Line" by Pat Molittieri in the April 1961 TEEN MAGAZINE: First I'll put the names as they spelled them and there's lot of corrections needed. Then I will put it as it should have been spelled..."A boy who is getting quite popular is George Carrelli. He gave Diane Bonario(she's Carol Scaldeferri's cousin), a surprise birthday party which turned out to be a real blast. A lot of new regulars were there--such as Flossie Harvey (who happens to be Billy Cook's cousin). It seems to me that the cousins are taking over the show." Ok, it should have read: "A boy who is getting quite popular is George Kralle. He gave DIANA BENEROa surprise birthday party which turned out to be a real blast. A lot of new regulars were there--such as Flossie Harvey (who happens to be Billy Cook's cousin). It seems to me that the cousins are taking over the show."In the TEEN WORLD Magazine for June 1961, there's this cute tidbit about Diana in an article where they talk about which Regulars are going steady and what they feel about going steady, and who's dating who, etc. Here's what was said about Diana in this issue: "Then there are some playing the field, still feverishly afflicted with Spring Fever. Who? Plenty, like Alan Durbin, Peggy Leonard, Bonnie Harden, DIANA BENERO, Sue Beltrante, Pat Molittieri, and Ronnie Verbit." |
