...THE YATES COLLECTION...
Very Rare & Wonderful Pictures

A tribute page to MR. ED YATES
Director of American Bandstand years 1953 - 1964

Mr. Ed Yates with Dick Clark
cutting the cake at 1967
AB Anniversary show

George's words can explain this picture best: "The photo back reads "Family Day 1964" So I guess this was WFIL's annual event for their employees.
Starting from left -> Jimmy D. (my best friend), George, Ed, Teresa, Chief Halftown, Patty, & Phil.
Front (L to R) -> Greg, John, & Joseph.
Now, you know what "The Ed Yates Army" looks like! (well, at least in 1964)
There were eight of us - I was the 2nd oldest -
Dick would always joke to my dad about "that army of yours".

BELOW IS FEATURED PICTURE OF THE DAY
Featured pic will also always be first thumbnail
in gallery & is clickable to more views or enlarged segments of same view.

See if you can guess the reason
for the telegram from Mrs. Yates to her hubby.
Hint: the date

George is the family historian and
he is going through the AB memorabilia in the
basement of his father's home. His father, Ed Yates,
was the Director of American bandstand during
the Philly Years 1953 - 1964
and then in California from 1965 - 1969.
Ed Yates passed away in 2006
We Thank George Very Much for Sharing With Us!
I had never seen any of these pics before.
