SAYAKA ~ A BANDSTAND KIND OF GIRL...

Hello everyone. You may recall my blog post just a while back titled "My First Saturday Pick", in which I put the URL links to 3 of the wonderful 50s songs done by a sweet and talented girl called SAYAKA. Well, I have subsequently had communication with her manager (her mom) and it was a lovely communication. She gave permission for me to embed Sayaka's videos on my website whenever I would like, and I am going to do so. Some videos may remain permanently and some will be exchanged for others, but she will have this separate blog and perhaps an entire page set aside for her. Please click on "Read More" to continue reading and see another video and maybe more yet today. These will change from time to time. So far "Dream Lover" is one of my favorites but when you click on this blog post, (even when it goes to archives) you will see her YouTube videos and perhaps other information. I plan to create a separate page for her in my main index and that will be even easier to access on a permanent basis than going to the blog archives. There are few people who I have felt inclined in my lifetime to honor in this manner--and she is one of those few.

SAYAKA does the music we like so very well and she is going places--that's for sure. So now we know that not only is Sayaka talented, but she has a very exceptional and talented mother who has in a refreshing way brought us something we can be proud to share. Here's a portion of her mother's email to me. Her mother is Franceca.

"Hello!

I'm Sayaka's manager (and mom) and I would like to thank you for the nice words you wrote about Sayaka on your web's blog. Sayaka was very touched.

You may certainly embed Sayaka's videos whenever you like.

My compliments to you for your website. Both Sayaka and I love vintage and retro. I'm Sicilian but I lived in New York in the 60s and 70s so I remember American Bandstand very well, I used to watch it all the time."

Isn't it a small world--and the influence around the world that American Bandstand has had. Her mother watched the show when she was living in the USA.

Love Potion #9 is one of those great 50s songs I watched the Regulars dance to on American Bandstand. Sayaka really nails it on this and others. Thank you, Sayaka. So many memories!
